Directions for Use

  • For an Arm Sling:
    1. Place the bandage between the chest and the injured arm, with the point of the triangle at the elbow.
    2. Bring the top end over the shoulder of the uninjured side.
    3. Fold the lower end up over the arm to meet the top end at the shoulder.
    4. Tie the two ends together in a reef knot at the side of the neck (not directly on the spine).
    5. Fold the excess fabric at the elbow and secure it with a safety pin or by tucking it in.
  • For a Broad-fold Bandage: Lay the bandage flat and fold the point to the base, then fold in half again. Use this for securing splints or applying pressure.

Warnings / Safety Information

  • Circulation Check: When using as a sling or to secure a splint, always check that the bandage is not too tight. Ensure you can see the fingertips and check for warmth and color every 15 minutes.
  • Knot Placement: Always tie knots to the side of the neck or on top of a limb—never directly over a wound, a bone protrusion, or the back of the neck.
  • Contamination: If the bandage becomes soaked with blood or bodily fluids, it should be disposed of as medical waste rather than washed and reused.
  • Not a Primary Dressing: This bandage is not sterile; always place a sterile gauze or wound dressing over an open wound before applying the triangular bandage.
