Duphalac Dry Sachets contain lactulose, a synthetic disaccharide used as an osmotic laxative. Unlike stimulant laxatives that irritate the bowel lining, Duphalac works naturally by drawing water into the colon. This softens the stool and increases its volume, which triggers the natural rhythmic contractions (peristalsis) of the bowel. Because lactulose is not absorbed into the bloodstream and instead acts locally in the colon, it is often favored for long-term management of chronic constipation and is suitable for a wide range of patients, including children and the elderly.
