INDICATIONS

ADCO-DOL TABLETS for adults:- Symptomatic relief of mild to moderate pain, pain associated with tension, and fever.

CONTRA-INDICATIONS:

Sensitivity to active ingredients. Safety in pregnancy has not been established. Contra-indicated in respiratory depression, especially in the presence of cyanosis and excessive bronchial secretion, after operations on the biliary tract, acute alcoholism, head injuries and conditions in which intracranial pressure is raised. It should not be given during an attack of bronchial asthma or in heart failure secondary to chronic lung disease. Contra-indicated in patients taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors or within fourteen days of stopping such treatment.

WARNINGS:

This medicine may lead to drowsiness and impaired concentration which is aggravated by the simultaneous intake of alcohol or other central nervous system depressant agents. Patients should be warned against taking charge of vehicles or machinery or performing potentially hazardous tasks where loss of concentration may lead to accidents. Paracetamol dosages in excess of those recommended may cause severe liver damage. Exceeding the prescribed dose, together with prolonged and continuous use of this medication, may lead to dependancy and addiction.

DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE: ADCO-DOL TABLETS

Adults and children over 12 years : One or two tablets repeated four hourly if necessary. Do not exceed eight tablets per day.

SIDE-EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:

Consult your doctor if no relief is obtained with the recommended dosage. Do not use continuously for more than ten days without consulting your doctor.

ADCO-DOL TABLETS should not be given to children under 12 years of age. Patients suffering from liver or kidney disease should take paracetamol under medical supervision. Paracetamol may cause sensitivity reactions resulting in reversible skin rash or blood disorders. The most common side-effect of doxylamine succinate is sedation which can vary from slight drowsiness to deep sleep, and including inability to concentrate, lassitude, dizziness, hypotension, muscular weakness and incoordination. Other side effects include gastro-intestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea or constipation and epigastric pain. Headache, tinnitus, elation or depression, irritability, nightmares, anorexia, difficulty in micturition, dryness of the mouth, tightness of the chest and tingling, heaviness and weakness of the hands may occur. Symptoms of stimulation in adults include insomnia, nervousness, tachycardia, tremors, muscle twitching and convulsions. Large doses may precipitate fits in epileptics. Allergy and anaphylaxis may occur. Blood dyscrasias including agranulocytosis and haemolytic anaemia may occur. Doxylamine succinate has anticholinergic properties and should be used with care in conditions such as glaucoma and prostatic hypertrophy. The effects of atropine and tricyclic antidepressants may be enhanced. The warning symptoms of damage caused by ototoxic drugs may be masked and the metabolism of drugs in the liver may be effected. Doxylamine succinate may enhance the sedative effect of central nervous system depressants including alcohol, barbiturates, hypnotics, narcotic analgesics, sedatives and tranquillisers. Codeine may cause nausea, vomiting, constipation, drowsiness, confusion, dry mouth, sweating, facial flushing, vertigo, bradycardia, palpitations, orthostatic hypotension, hypothermia, restlessness, changes of mood and miosis. Micturition may be difficult and there may be ureteric or biliary spasm. Raised intracranial pressure may occur. Reactions such as urticaria and pruritus may occur. Codeine should be given with caution to patients with hypothyroidism, adrenocortical insufficiency, impaired liver function, prostatic hypertrophy or shock. It should be used with caution in patients with inflammatory or obstructive bowel disorders.

The dosage should be reduced in elderly and debilitated patients. The depressant effects of codeine are enhanced by depressants of the central nervous system such as alcohol, anaesthetics, hypnotics and sedatives, and phenothiazines. The prolonged use of high doses of codeine has produced dependance of the morphine type. Caffeine may cause restlessness, excitement, muscle tremor, tinnitus, scintillating scotoma, tachycardia and extrasystoles. Caffeine increases gastric secretions and may cause gastric ulceration. Caffeine should be given with care to patients with a history of peptic ulceration.

KNOWN SYMPTOMS OF OVERDOSAGE AND PARTICULARS OF ITS TREATMENT

See "SIDE-EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS". In the event of overdosage consult a doctor or take the patient to the nearest hospital immediately. Specialised treatment is essential as soon as possible. The latest information regarding the treatment of overdosage can be obtained from the nearest poison centre, but in the event of this not being available, empty the stomach by aspiration and lavage. Supportive therapy may be required. Symptoms of overdosage include nausea and vomiting. Liver damage which may be fatal, may only appear after a few days. Kidney failure has been described following acute intoxication.

RETURNS POLICY

Irrespective of the delivery method you choose, we always take responsibility up to the point of delivery, i.e. if your parcel goes missing or the contents are damaged, we will replace the affected items at no cost to you.

All our medicines are shipped from Johannesburg, South Africa. We deliver Worldwide via DHL, EMS, Global Express and the Post Office (Registered Airmail). Post Office delivery option is not suitable for Australia, Newzealand, USA and Canada because the Post Office sometimes takes a very long time to deliver in those countries. Global Express and EMS deliveries are guaranteed ! DHL is our preferred shipping method.

Please Note: We are no longer able to post liquid products such as Syrups outside of South Africa.

DHL

This is the fastest delivery method and can take as little as 3 days. Use it if you want your item to arrive within a few days.

  • Your parcel tracking reference number (Waybill number) will be emailed to you as soon as the parcel is accepted by DHL.
  • Order placed late Friday afternoon and during the weekend are usually processed on Monday/Tuesday.
  • Occasionally customers have reported that DHL in their country has asked them to pay additional delivery charges, claiming that OTCMedXpress was undercharged. Please note that OTCMedXpress has no control over this additional fee. Neither do we have control over any Customs Duty that may be imposed on the parcel.

Global Express

Global Express is an International Courier service available to most international destinations. The service is offered by "The Courier Guy", a South African private courier company with a global reach. This delivery option takes only 7-14 days to any destination in the World.

EMS

This is the fastest shipping option for USA and Canada where we can not use DHL. EMS may also be available in other countries outside the USA and Canada. The parcel will take an average of 12 days to arrive. In some countries, final delivery will be done by the local Post Office. Using your tracking number, you can track your parcel at: https://wheremy.com/ems-post-tracking/

Please note: FREE Shipping promotion is occasionally offered by the Post Office. Although our system allows it, DO NOT CHOOSE EMS at checkout. If you do, the order will come through but your parcel will be posted via Post Office. If you are in the USA, your parcel might take up to 6 months to arrive via USPS.

Post Office Airmail

This option is for postage via the South African Post Office. Parcel posted via the Post Office will normally take between 2-4 weeks to arrive. Parcels may take much longer to arrive due to the effects of the festive season, public holidays or industrial strike action. Use this delivery option if you are not in a terrible hurry to receive your order because lengthy delivery delays are not uncommon, sometimes for no apparent reason. Having said that, the SA Post Office has 99% delivery success rate. Please bear this in mind when selecting a delivery option for your order.

Tracking Parcels sent via the Post Office

OTCMedXpress always provides tracking information for Post Office parcels. However, please note that actual tracking is provided not by the Post Office itself but by third parties. This in itself makes the process of tracking Post Office parcels a bit complicated, besides the fact that actual tracking is only available within South Africa.

Once your parcel has been handed over to the Post Office, OTCMedXpress has no way of trying to expedite its movement through the postal system.

Please be guided accordingly !

Postage and Handling Charges

The correct delivery fee will be calculated at checkout. This cost will be based on a combination of factors such as number of items in the shopping cart (quantity), weight delivery option selected and delivery destination.

Additional Charges by Customs Office

Please note that we have no control over additional fees that Customs Officials in your country may impose. It may be a good idea to contact your local Customs Office to inquire about the legality of importing the desired product into your country before you place an order on this website. Therefore, please note that OTCMedXpress prices, shipping and handling charges do not include any custom duties or taxes that may be incurred or charged on international orders. These charges are beyond the control of OTCMedXpress and need to be paid by the customer. Read more ...
